All ready in trouble..par for the course......Isreal Regardie's published works are in contention for both ownership AND authenticity. Look for press dates prior to the two publishers contending over rights.

Mruppert, I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned you had more books at one point than 'the Elkridge Branch of the Howard County Library'-- are you from Howard County, Maryland??! That is where I grew up!!! My Dad and his family live in Ellicott City! What a small world it is!!

The "Bhagavad Gita" translated by Stephen Mitchell. I've heard about it in many of my reading materials but just bought it on Friday. Finished it today (Sunday), very spiritual, a moving experience.

Ah such a book .... yes so much so friend Leo ... The Geeta for me ranks with the Tao Te Ching as one of those spiritual texts that truly transcend religious differences and outward forms and ephemeral trends ....

I have heard tell that everyone has a book inside of them, at least one: and that is their, or your, book, the book of yourself.

There is one coming in time. I am absolutely and metaphysically "pregnant" with one.

Two other good book perhaps you can all relate to.
This goes back to the late 60's for me:

God Will Work With You But Not For You -- By Lao Russell

The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe -- By Glen Clark (About the life of Walter Russell -- This book turned my life inside out.)

P.S.

"The only love we ever have, is the first love we give." Quote by Lao Russell

ABS, you don't really believe that ancient teachings are not relevant do you? Yet you do have a somewhat sort of belief in eastern religion don't you?

So long as we are picking bones and being persnickety in general... The definition and use of the term metaphysics has undergone many iterations.

The name metaphysics was originally a title by Aristotle. His book Metaphysics followed his book on Physics. Meta simply means "beyond". So, the book is titled as such because it came after his physics work in order of writing or presentation, not so much in concept or subject addressed.

The later meaning in philosophy (mostly in the Modern Era of Philosophy) came to mean those matters that went beyond the empirical study of the world or those matters that had to do with the Divine (epistomplogy, ontology, blah blah blah)

We are all familiar with the New Age terminology of metaphysics. No reason to reiterate.

For the sake of simplicity and for the simple reason that we are posting on a New Age metaphysical forum, I suggest we stick to the New Age definition and meaning.

Smiles!

So, Shoshanna! Is there a particular area of interest where you wanted to focus? Of course, contemporary metaphysics is a broad field? Are you interested in light reading? More mind bending? Feel good? Earth-based? It seems that you are diving into the goddess traditions and earth traditions. Do you want to read more of the same?

Something I read recently was Dion Fortune...her fiction anyway. She was part of the theosophical society in the early part of 20th century. It is said that her fiction is the practical counterpart to her theoretical works. In other words, one needs to read her fiction in order to apply her theories. The fiction I read was the The Sea Priestess. It is sort of an odd story, though you really get a sense of Ms. Fortune's influence on contemporary Goddess traditions. You may get a kick out of it.

Anyway, let us know if you have particular interests.

Thanks,
Kiddo

Leo,

I am familiar with the "ancient" and "eastern" I just don't gravite toward them anymore that much since they all are oriented
more from a masculinist or feminist viewpoint that puts one gender over the another, creating in their metaphysics an imbalance
that leads ultimately to slavery of some kind, destruction, and death. I believe in that which is balanced male and female, man and woman.
As I once said earlier, its a paradigm shift. It has to do with the sexes being equal and opposite.

Those from a feminist view believe in equality but no opposition. Those from a musculinist view believe in opposition but not equality.
Those from a man and woman point of view believe in a balanced metaphysics that are both equal and opposite.

At a fundamental level there is a distinction between man and woman on all levels physical, emotional, intellectual, metaphysical, and spiritual.

Peace,

A.S.

Hi Marty,

Chris and I used talk over the concepts in that book while he was writing it. I think he mentioned my name on the dedication page (Robert Birk). He just recently
went back and retyped the whole book to smooth it out and review it for other improvements.

Peace and joy,

A.S.
