What is our Joy ?

where is our Joy ?

I've no idea ... joy is something I find hard to grasp, my depressive nature maybe ... but glimpses are ...

in the sunlight on the waters, or the rain on the waters, or the wind blowing across the waters, or their stillness ... the waters of the sea, or the waters or freshwater ponds, rivers, springs ...

... thenagain ... there are the joys from light on autumn leaves ...

or from humanity, the joy of second to instant interaction on the packed commuter train, breathing in to permit on the person for whom there is no room, then the twinkling light in the eyes as eyes, meeting, for a briefer than brief instant, strangers become friends ... then are gone at the next stop ...

the joy of not knowing, and remaining with not knowing, knowing that that is all there is, that, and the love that gives itself away, for nothing, because that is the nature of love. It can do no more, and no less.

Wondering then, what is your Joy ?

There is no past, present and the envisaged future but in longing says this moment of my beleaguered mind. Hope it tells something.

Remain Blessed!

Hey dudes.....
I am filled with Joy to see a post from a great friend and fellow dreamer, Danny-ju....

Paulio....I was in a state of despair and my Bristol companion suggested we do some Graham Norton....we watched earlier shows than the ones that came to the USA. Worked like a charm!!!
Then we watched Robin Williams "Golf" which pokes fun at the "Scoots" and the cairns and "skairts"......and I could not stop laughing.....not only because of the correct and frequent use of the fabled four letter word that the Isle seems to love....but because he had the argot and patois down pat....Hell, I thought he was Scottish!

I feel really joyful when we can all poke fun at ourselves and each other...and accept it in the spirit intended.

P&L,
Marty and Bad Girls....Luck, Popp, and Siss...real culprit unknown...they won't RAT each other out!

Hi Paul,

I think joy is a choice.

It spreads out from you towards your horizon.

It doesn't come at you from your horizon, or you would

always be waiting for it... and waiting... and waiting... for "Godot."

Peace,

A.S.

Paul, I just bought the book "The Upanishads" and a quote jumped off the page...."There is no joy in the finite, there is joy only in the infinite." The infinite- free, unbounded, full of joy- is our native state. We have fallen from that state and seek it everywhere: every human activity is an attempt to fill this void. But as long as we try to fill it from outside ourselves, we are making demands on life which life cannot fulfill. Finite things can never appease an infinite hunger. Nothing can satisify us but reunion with our real self, which the Upanishads say is sat-chit-ananda: absolute reality, pure awareness, unconditioned joy.
